From Chief Deputy James Urquhart Oxford County

Earlier today (February 27, 2023) The Oxford County Regional Communications Center (RCC) received a 911 complaint of a subject throwing debris in the roadway in the area of 14 Butterfield Road in Sumner Maine. The residence was occupied by DEAN HALL (54 years- old). Upon arrival to the scene, HALL became very aggressive and making threatening statements towards family, neighbors, and Police. Deputies cordoned off the area surrounding the neighborhood and eventually due to HALL throwing household items into the roadway, traffic in the area was shut down. Local schools were notified and bus routes were re-routed for school and public safety.

After several hours of threats and failed negotiations with Hall, The Cumberland County Tactical Response Team and South Maine Tactical Response Team were called upon for assistance. After approximately 11 hours of negotiations and a tactical response, Dean Hall was taken into custody just before 8 PM this evening.

Hall was transported to the Oxford County Jail and charged with Criminal Threatening, Terrorizing, and Causing a Police Standoff.
